YOUR RIGHTS AND SAFETY ARE AT STAKE

In 2008, retired Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputy Sandra Hutchens was appointed Sheriff of Orange County to finish the elected term of former Sheriff Mike Carona.  Despite inheriting a Department plagued by accusations of political favoritism and a poorly run jail system, our new Sheriff immediately targeted law-abiding citizens holding licenses to carry concealed weapons (CCWs).  Since autumn 2008, Hutchens made it nearly impossible to obtain a CCW in our County, and has revoked or refused to renew hundreds of existing CCW permits held by law-abiding, peaceable citizens.

By doing this, Appointed Sheriff Hutchens has decreased the safety of our County.  The studies are clear that when law-abiding citizens own and carry firearms, crime decreases and public safety increases.  Deaf to the calls of the Board of Supervisors, concerned citizens and the  Republican Party of Orange County, Hutchens refuses to respect her constituents and instead displays a heavy-handed, us-vs-them Los Angeles policing mentality.

It is time for Appointed Sheriff Hutchens to go.  In March 2009, the SAFE OC Political Action Committee was formed to identify, endorse and support a candidate for Sheriff who would restore liberal CCW issuance in our County.  That person is retired Sheriff's Lieutenant and San Clemente Chief of Police, Bill Hunt.  In July 2009, SAFE OC unanimously endorsed Mr. Hunt for Sheriff of Orange County.

We need your help to elect a pro-CCW, pro-safety Sheriff of Orange County. Please join our mailing list, attend our upcoming events, and contribute as much as you are able.

Please feel free to contact us by phone, mail or e-mail. We are a transparent, accessible PAC committed to serving the safety of the County by ensuring that law-abiding citizens have the means to defend themselves. This is our goal – a SAFE OC.
